Rescued Fighting Dogs Update

If you're a dog lover, a dog liker or simply a dog tolerator, this picture may bring tears to your eyes. Why? Because this is one of the dogs that Michael Vick had fighting for him. Once again a scene depicting the human dog bond is stronger than ever and our longtime furry friends are the epitome of unconditional love.

Nearly all of the former fighters are doing well and living at the "Best Friends Animal Sanctuary" or in foster homes. Either way, these dogs are a shining example of how incredible the canine is and that humans need to take a lesson from them.

If only 10% the human population could love half as much as the dog, how much better we would be here on earth. Wow! Thinking about that is really...Wow!

So how did I get started on all this today? During my Saturday surfing, I was lucky to discover a couple of websites on the former Vick dogs. They all have names and are healing from their battle scars. Check out Badrap.org and Bestfriends.org.

On a very personal note: Dog fighting is disturbing beyond verbal description. This isn't just because it's so obviously wrong but it's a clear indicator of where these people are at on the evolutionary scale; way down there. What do these folks think about? Wait. I don't want to know.

The jail sentence Michael Vick got wasn't enough by my dog loving standards. Incarceration doesn't work anyway. Does anyone really read the rates of recidivism in the U.S.? I wish there was a way to completely reprogram a human that behaves this way.

You know. Like the Sci-Fi movie I saw once with Sly Stallone and Sandra Bullock that puts criminals in these chambers and it reorganizes their brain cells or something like that. Anyway, it's a great idea. Calling on scientists, geneticists and psychologists: please help move these people up the scale beyond random violence and barbarianism. It's time to let go of the gladiator days.

Until we get the reorganization of criminal brain chambers, we need more people in charge like the guy in Arizona who makes the prisoners wear pink underwear and eat bologna sandwiches. No Hollywood showers on his watch. I like him. Let's put him in charge and see what happens with prison population return rates.
