Dogs & At Risk Youth Heal Together

Here's yet another story of how dogs make us better human beings. Some brilliant folks put together shelter dogs with an At Risk young person. The human and the dog have met once a week over the last few months for training with an expert and the results are for the books. "Pawsitive Connection", located in Denver, CO, is the first of it's kind in the area and just may become a legend in healing.

The canines and the human are connecting in ways that are simply amazing. One example is "Sarah" the human who connected with "Molly" the canine. Not so surprising that they're now close pals. Both used to run away a lot. They found the common ground and built on it. Then there's "Rosie", the human, and "Pisa", the canine. These two share the bond of being abandoned and are licking each others wounds. "Pisa" has done so well with training that she's now moved up to the next level to possibly become a service dog.

We can heal ourselves. Everything we need for it is already here. We only need to open our wounded eyes and not just look, but see beyond the surface and believe anything is possible. To sniff out the entire story, Click here?

Dog Donuts, Cakes and More!

Look at all these tasty treats. Yummy! The only difference between these desserts and your local bakery is they are made primarily for dogs. With no sugar or salt added, your pooch can have a birthday cake and invite their friends.

"Doodle Dog Bakery" just opened their doors this month and business is booming. These creative folks also cater to the allergy prone dog with wheat free products just for them. Since dogs are becoming more of a family member than a pet, those with disposable incomes often stop by and pick up some ice cream for their furry baby. The dogs lap it up.

I make a special summer treat for my dogs of yogurt, apple sauce, strawberries and some secret ingredients, freeze it and I'm quite the hero. This is much better than sharing my popsicle with them. Click here for the whole story.

Dog GPS Now Available

Does your dog continually run a muck? Do you comb the neighborhood yelling "Max", "Max" or whistle to have your canine come running home?

For the seasoned doggie escape artists, GPS is now available. Put it on their collar and you can instantly locate your wandering pooch. It'll even tell you when "Max" departs his designated area. Maybe we should use this for teenager's too. Dig up the whole story here!

Dogs Lend a Nose in China Quake Aftermath

"Rifka", a search and rescue dog from the Dutch organization SIGNI, is lending her nose to find anyone who's alive in the aftermath of the devastating China quake. "Rifka" is also finding the dead thus giving closure to those who lost loved ones.

"Rifka" is not alone in this quest. SIGNI has come to China with four dogs to search. Again our pal the dog is helping us out. Granted, most of the bodies these elite dogs find are indeed deceased, but for those still alive in this chaos of rubble, it's a relief to have at least found the one they love.

Humans have had assistance from canines for centuries. The versatile canine greets us when we come home, smiles when their happy, growls when their angry, leads the blind, calms the anxious, barks to warn of danger and digs us out when we're covered in debris. With the nose that knows, thank you for being our best pal. Fetch the whole scoop here!

Dog Rescuer May Do Time

Randy DeCarlo rescues pups like the ones in this picture. He's been an Animal Rescue Activist for 7 years now and may go to jail for violating noise ordinances in Gwinnett County Georgia.

Currently, Randy has 25 dogs keeping him warm at night and his neighbor is hounding mad. With 12 Beagles and 12 Bassett Hounds plus a Shih Tzu, barking dogs takes on a whole new meaning.

Randy is a responsible dog person though. He keeps the poochers inside from 7 pm to 7 am and the only time there's barking is when someone comes around. The hounds are doing their job. Warning and protecting the human that saved them from abuse, neglect and many from a certain death.

Give Randy a medal. This man deserves it. Neighbor lady Susie Porter, get over it. Maybe Ms. Susie, a Real Estate Agent, should have done more homework before purchasing the foreclosed house next door to a man who has saved 250 dogs. Randy: You're a tribute to the human race. Thank you. Fetch the whole story here

More Doggie Music

Want a happier, calmer pooch? According to studies, certain types of music really help to soothe your anxious canine. "Through A Dog's Ear", written by Joshua Leeds and Susan Wagner, DVM, MS, is based on the most recent science available in regards to how dogs hear and respond to sound.

We all know that dogs have acute hearing. But how do they hear. Is it like being underwater? Is it like an echo in a canyon? This book explains it all and includes a CD to help calm your cuddly canine. For the full scoop, fetch it here!

Super Sniffing Labradors

Once again the super sniffer nose of our pal the dog is helping us out. In Brazil's Emas National Park, four dogs are assisting researchers who are observing threatened wildlife in the park.

The canines sniff out the feces of wild and endangered animals such as the jaguar, tapir and the giant anteater. The researchers analyze the feces and learn about the said animal's diet, their numbers, parasites and even hormonal stresses.

These studies help to create harmony between the wildlife and the local farmers. What a concept? Look at what's available, where you are, who already lives there and figure out the best way for everyone to live happily ever after.
